Minun piti kirjoittaa tästä jo maaliskuussa, kun luin Paul Austerin kirjan Oracle Night ja eräs kohta siitä jäi vahvasti mieleeni. En ole kuitenkaan sen jälkeen kokenut oikein täysin sopivaa hetkeä tälle, vaikka se onkin ollut mielessä enemmän tai vähemmän koko ajan.
Tässä pätkässä kirjan päähenkilö Sidney Orr kertoo vaimolleen kesäleiristä, jolle hän osallistui lapsena. Leiriläiset oli jaettu kahteen joukkueseen - olivatkohan ne nyt Red Team ja White Team tai jotain vastaavaa. Leirin johtajat kuitenkin alkoivat salaa muodostaa kolmatta joukkuetta, Blue Teamiä, johon pääsivät mukaan vain kaikista mukavimmat leiriläiset.
En oikein enää muista mikä Blue Teamin pointti koko kirjassa oli, mutta kuvaus siitä oli todella vaikuttava, koska mielestäni se kertoo hienosti siitä, millaisia parhaat ystävät ovat. Itse ainakin tunnen monta ihmistä, jotka ansaitsisivat paikan Blue Teamissä. Toivottavasti sellainen todella kootaan tässä elämässä jollain tapaa.

A Blue Team member would give you the shirt off his back if he saw you were in need, but he would much rather slip a ten-dollar bill into your pocket when you weren't looking."
